Role and main tasks in the project:

CEA has the possibility to develop all the process steps of NdFeB magnet production at a pilot line, from the alloy and powder manufacturing to the magnet characterization. These facilities will be be utilized in MultiMag to provide the consortium with hard magnetic powders for additive manufacturing. Development of the synthesis of NdFeB magnets by laser powder bed fusion will also be carried out by CEA.

Siemens Technology will design, simulate, produce and characterize MM-AM structures and evaluate/adapt AM technologies for use in application. Siemens is also one UC owner.

STAM

STAM has over 25 years of experience in supporting innovators to conceive and design new products and services which leverage upon our multidisciplinary experts, in-house laboratories, hands-on integration of proven methodologies (e.g., TRIZ, design thinking, etc.) and modelling tools as well as access to external labs through dedicated partnerships. STAM has performed solid LCA for products and services, understanding the process, data requirements and making use of the results. Moreover, STAM applies systems thinking and LCA to assess environmental dimension of the circular economy, including both technical and biological materials cycles. These capabilities and the LCA knowledge are utilized in the MultiMag project.

Role and main tasks in the project:

As an end-user in the project, ICPE is responsible for implementation of the Use Case 2 – Synchronous permanent magnet brushless motor with axially aligned stator poles. The main role is to improve the implementation of the brushless motor construction and manufacturing of complex geometries and shapes of the stator poles by multi magnetic materials and additive manufacturing (MM – AM) for e-mobility.

ICPE is an SME working in the field of fabrication of innovative products and professional services in the field of electrical engineering and interdisciplinary domains. The main activity is design, development and fabrication of electric motors/generators. ICPE has an extensive experience on the design and manufacturing of: Brushless motors with/without magnets, Outer rotor motors/generators, Axial field motors, Linear motors, Slotless, Ironless, Magnetic gears, Synchronous Reluctance Motors, High speed motors, Water cooled motors, Vacuum and cryogenic motors, that will be utilized in the MultiMag project. CPE is the third UC owner.

3R-cycle will recycle and recover rare earths from EOL magnets. 3RC main objective is to provide alternative source from conventional mining operations to produce recycled REE powders from end of life (EOL) magnets for industrial use. The pre-prosessed materials are then leached by using green chemistry and recovery technologies.
